All school meals are highlights throughout the day. You can always expect delicious and varied range of food, and in addition the closeness and conversations of the mealtime community. The meals are one of the best settings for the shared experiences at school. Here you can hear about what your roomie did in his weekend or continue the debate about gender roles from your own class. The day is brought into the conversation, news and messages are passed on, and when there is a birthday, there sure will be a birthday song that can be heard all over school

The food

Food with thought for taste, quality, and sustainability

We are inspired by cuisine from all over the world and use lots of seasonal greens in all daily meals. As far as possible, we produce most of the food ourselves; we pickle and ferment, make jams, bake all the bread, so that every day offers inviting dishes and salads with a green focus.

We get vegetables and herbs from the school garden, where students can follow the vegetables from seed to sprout, to harvestable vegetables that the kitchen then uses in the meals.

Our breakfast can consist of porridge or home-baked buns, cold cuts, vegetables etc. Lunch and dinner are often a hot meal that alternates between vegetarian, meat, or fish.

All in all, we, the kitchen staff, look forward to welcoming you and for you to be enjoying the food in our dining hall.

When you sign up, we ask you to inform us of any dietary considerations we need to be aware of, if you are, for example, a vegetarian, vegan or have religious or medical reasons for a special diet. For the sake of planning, we would like to be informed about this before the start of the course. Contact the administration when you sign up or write it as a comment

If life at a Folk High School is a stew, then the students are the ingredients. With each semester, there are different people, and each semester is never the same but always brings a new and exciting 'flavor.' Yes, I work in the kitchen.

The best thing about working at Nordfyns Folk High School is feeling the sense of unity that exists at the school. It's a place where you are closer to everyone.

In the beginning I was a bit overwhelmed by people being everywhere and it was a bit strange to eat together.
