The atmosphere is created together
Folk High School is the the sum of the people in the community.
From the moment you wake up in the morning, the school comes to life. Voices echo through the hallways, and you might even hear the hum of a hair dryer from one of the rooms. When you enter the dining room for breakfast, you're greeted with happy, but perhaps slightly tired looking, smiles. Some students still have that 'just out of bed' hairstyle. If you're an early riser and have some spare time, you can take a morning stroll or tidy up your room. Perhaps you strike up a conversation at the breakfast table, and before you know it, you're rushing to the morning assembly. Others may have just rolled out of bed and show up in their pyjamas. The morning assembly is a dynamic start to the day. Its content can range from games, dance, and community singing to reflections from a teacher or student, a presentation on a subject, or insights into local traditions shared by the school's diverse international students and staff. This shared experience and common beginning help set the tone and stimulate thoughts that guide the rest of the day.
