In Global Outlook we pause the world for a moment and ask: How did we end up here? Global Outlook is a class based on dialogue but also a class for detectives where we investigate the world and try to understand it a little better than before.

Come on a journey where we will explore the world as it is and as it could be.

It is connected. That's how simple it can be stated. The local is intertwined with the global, our personal lives are entwined with other's lives. We are shaped by the societies and cultures around us. In Global Outlook, we work on slowly unraveling the skein of yarn, so we can get a better understanding of how the threads are connected. We start with the close and use it as a basis to comprehend the broader contexts: international politics, global citizenship, cultural encounters, and identity politics in an open and playful manner.

Global Outlook is a subject where you immerse yourself in the world around you and discover how international your everyday life is. Whether the lesson is about bananas and South America or about the internet and our cell-phones, you learn while laughing and playing.

Through the class, we learned tips on understanding the world through different perspectives. We focus on different topics in various ways: we play LEGO to consider government forms and do role-play to explore cultural exchange. Now, I'm able to realize certain problems in everyday life that I had not even realized before.

Global Outlook is for anyone curious about the world around them and how it all fits together. For me, it has been truly enjoyable and fascinating to be a part of, both in terms of the topics we delve into and the teaching approach, where there is room for discussion, reflection, and play.

What will we be doing?

We will investigate the world in which we live in and how we should relate to it.

In Global Outlook, no questions are too big or too small. We have explored what it means to travel sustainably, what the perfect school looks like, how dating works in different cultures, and what the internet is really made of. However, these are just examples, as you will have a significant influence on the topics we delve into.

You will learn about cultural encounters, politics, and international cooperation, and in that context, we will pose some fundamental questions: How do we structure a society, how do we create social justice, what can we learn from history, and what does the future hold?

Sometimes, we explore a topic collectively, other times we attempt to discuss our way to an answer, and on other occasions, we take a practical approach, such as creating our own microstate, visiting organizations with something to say, writing manifestos, playing diplomats, or retracing the journey of an iPhone from start to finish.

You will discover the world anew in a safe space where there is room to be unsure and find answers along the way. It's a chance to build your worldview - or gain a new one.
