MAIN SUBJECT
Textile & Crafts
Textiles & Crafts is a creative and sustainable subject where we return to the roots of traditional craftsmanship. You’ll learn to create clothing and textiles from scratch – from raw wool to finished pieces – with the focus being on reuse, sustainable fashion, and traditional craftsmanship techniques. Along the way, we will explore a wide range of techniques and forms of expression, and the subject will end with a collaborative textile artwork. The subject is geared to both beginners and the more experienced, and you’ll leave with new skills, a sense of community, and plenty of inspiration to continue your journey with textiles and handcrafts.

Crafts with meaning
In class, we go back to the roots of textile craftsmanship and take a closer look at the rhythm of clothing production.
We slow things down and question the way we consume and produce clothing today.
We will take a hands-on and reflective approach to how handcraft and sustainability can go hand in hand – and how your own hands can create something that is not only beautiful and functional, but also meaningful.

Craftivism and Community
The teaching is hands-on, experimental, and conversation-based.
We use creativity as a springboard to express ideas and spark dialogue.
This class is for everyone – whether you’ve maybe never held a pair of knitting needles or you already love handcrafts and want to learn even more. We start with your hands, skills and curiosity, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore a wide range of techniques at your own pace and in your own way - with plenty of creativity and calm.

What will you learn?
You’ll gain:
-
Practical skills in textiles and crafts
-
Knowledge of textile production, traditions, and sustainability
-
The ability to repair and create new pieces from old materials
-
A sense of community built around concentration, craftsmanship, and creativity
- Time for individual projects and deep dives
As a final project, we’ll create a collective artwork where everyone contributes with their own piece of textile, created with their chosen technique – a shared reflection on the world we live in.
