MAIN SUBJECT
Mountainbike
Speed, technique and plenty of fresh air. Hop on your mountain bike and hit some of the best trails on Funen, where we’ll challenge ourselves, learn new skills and chase that perfect flow!
Find your flow on the trails
Mountain biking is all about reading the terrain and reacting to what comes next. A steep climb. A sharp turn. A technical descent. Roots, rocks and uneven terrain.
You’ll learn how to work with your body and your bike to improve your control, balance and confidence on the trails. We’ll work on:
- Riding technique and body position
- Climbs, descents and turns
- Balance and control
- Different riding styles and techniques
- Fitness, endurance and physical training
- Bike maintenance and technical components
There’s room to push your limits and get your heart rate up – but also to simply find your flow and enjoy the ride through the forest.
Funen is our playground
One of the best things about the subject is that we don’t stay on school grounds. Every Friday, we load our mountain bikes and gear onto the bus and head out to discover new trails.
We’ll explore different types of terrain and trails across Funen, so you’ll experience how the surface, landscape and challenges change from one place to another.
It also means plenty of adventures beyond the school – and a whole lot of kilometres in your legs.
Practical information
You don’t need your own mountain bike
You don’t need to invest in an expensive bike to join.
You can borrow both a mountain bike and a helmet from the school, so all the essential gear is ready when we head out. All you need to bring is clothing that can handle a bit of mud – and a desire to hit the trails.
To fit the school’s mountain bikes, you need to be at least 165 cm tall.
Who is this subject for?
Mountain biking is for you if you love being active, want to challenge yourself and enjoy experiencing nature from the saddle.
You don’t need to be an experienced mountain biker. Maybe you’ve never ridden a proper MTB trail before, or maybe you already know your way around jumps, berms and technical descents. Whatever your level, there’s plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and become a better rider.
The most important thing is that you’re up for riding, learning and having fun along the way.
Please note: Mountain Biking is not offered in January, February or March.
