MAIN SUBJECT
Road Cycling
Do you dream of spending an entire semester cycling, training, and becoming part of a cycling community? Then Road Cycling is perfect for you. Here we combine structured training, exciting rides in Denmark and abroad – and plenty of cycling joy.
Schedule
Road Cycling is a C-subject, which means that classes take place all day Friday. In addition, there will be interval training on Tuesdays and a social ride on Wednesdays. We will also arrange for you to ride some great routes on your own during weekends.
Fridays will be structured according to season and weather.
- A typical winter/autumn Friday: 2 hours of road cycling in the morning and 1–2 hours of indoor spinning in the afternoon.
- A typical spring/summer Friday: An endurance ride lasting the whole day.
Trips & Experiences
A semester of road cycling is not only about training – it’s also about experiences:
- Study trip to Spain, where we spend a whole week cycling with other cycling enthusiasts and exploring Spanish culture
- Weekend trip in Denmark with plenty of cycling (approx. 2,000 DKK)
- Social rides on gravel or MTB during the winter months, and road cycling when the weather allows
- Cycling races 2–3 times per semester
- Cycling camp with young cycling enthusiasts from all over the country
- Captain’s weekend in collaboration with DGI, where you receive training as a ride leader
Study Trip – Road Cycling
Study Trip to Spain
Students in the Road Cycling course have the opportunity to go on a truly special study trip to Spain!
The trip goes to the Malaga area, where the main focus will be cycling through the fantastic and hilly landscape – while also experiencing the local Spanish culture.
Since the terrain is much hillier than in Denmark and the temperatures higher, the trip requires both training and good technique. The trip takes place roughly in the middle of the semester, and in the months leading up to it, we train together and individually to get ready for the Spanish mountains!
Parts of the trip will be planned in advance, but there will always be room to adjust routes and distances along the way – depending on the group’s level. We take care of each other and make sure everyone has a great experience.
Practical Information
We travel by the school bus to Copenhagen Airport, where we fly to Malaga (flight time approx. 4 hours).
Please remember that you may bring a maximum of 10 kg of luggage – so pack light and practically.
From Malaga Airport, we take a shuttle bus to Almuñécar, a charming coastal town about an hour from Malaga.
We will stay together in a large apartment in the town center, close to the beach, cafés, and cycling routes.
Meals
Breakfast is prepared and eaten together in the apartment.
Lunch is sandwiches that we enjoy during the day’s cycling trips.
Dinner will be a mix of meals cooked in the apartment and evenings out in town.
Program
Day 1
Travel day and check-in. In the evening, we go out for dinner and enjoy our first Spanish tapas.
Day 2
We pick up our bikes at Costa Tropical Cycling and head out together on a 60–80 km ride to the town of Torrox.
Day 3
A full day on the bike – around 120 km. We plan the route together so everyone gets a good challenge.
Day 4
We ride approx. 50 km and visit the beautiful mountain village of Frigiliana. In the evening, we cook and eat dinner together in the apartment.
Day 5
Another long day on the bike – 110–130 km – and possibly the queen stage of the trip, if the legs allow it! The route is planned together, but it will be a scenic ride along the coast. When we return, we hand back the bikes.
Day 6
Our last day in Spain! Together we decide how we want to spend it – maybe the beach, the town, or more tapas? In the evening, we eat out and enjoy a cozy last night together.
Day 7
Return to Denmark and back to the school.
Weekend Trip to Als
Tour d’Als
During the semester, we also pack our bikes and head off on a weekend trip to the beautiful island of Als! From Thursday to Sunday, we stay together in a large house in Nordborg and spend the days exploring the island on two wheels.
Each day we ride with a local guide who knows the best routes and hidden gems on Als. We expect to cover around 120 km per day, so you can look forward to plenty of kilometers, great scenery, and a good pace.
For those who are extra tough, there’s an option to cycle all the way to and from Als – approx. 150 km each way.
Before departure, we prepare our own energy bars and snacks at the school, so we have plenty of fuel along the way.
When we’re not on the bikes, it’s all about community and coziness – we cook meals together in the house, and there’s also the option (at your own expense) to visit a large waterpark only 5 km away.
After the trip, we gather all students for a morning assembly where we share photos, stories, and highlights from our Tour d’Als.

Practical information
You need to bring your own road bike or gravel bike, helmet, and basic equipment.
If you have a home trainer, you are welcome to bring it along.
Mountain bikes can be borrowed from the school.
You can expect day trips of 50–80 km.
Who can join?
